On 20 April, the inauguration of the African Space Agency was held at its headquarters in Cairo, signalling the continent’s commitment to space exploration and technological advancements.

In attendance were dignitaries from across Africa and the global space community, including representatives from the African Union Commission and international space agencies such as ESA and NASA.
Ayman Ashour, Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stated that this aims to extend internet services to cover all parts of the African continent, enhancing performance efficiency and bringing services closer to the citizen.
