Promoted by the Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation (ICNF), the open day will allow visitors to participate in a series of activities prepared for the purpose and which will take place at the Marim Environmental Education Center, in Olhão, the Institute said in a statement.
“Throughout the day, participants will be able to learn about nature conservation projects, take part in interpretive walks, practical workshops, boat trips along the Ria Formosa, on a scientific route led by the University of Algarve”, highlighted the ICNF.
“Nautical activities and recreational moments aimed at all ages” are also planned for visitors, added the ICNF, which is responsible for managing the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a coastal wetland located in the district of Faro, on the eastern coast of the Algarve.
With the open day, visitors have the opportunity to take part in activities that contribute to their “environmental awareness” and that promote “direct contact with nature”, highlighted the ICNF, highlighting that all activities are free, but some have a limited number of participants.
In marking the 47th anniversary of the Algarve protected wetland, the organisation reinforces “the role of the park as a space for education, research and sustainable leisure”, said ICNF.
The Institute warned participants about the need to be properly prepared to take part in the activities, advising them to wear comfortable shoes and clothing, such as trousers, instead of shorts, to protect their legs from the vegetation.
It is also advisable to wear a hat and sunscreen, and participants should bring water and snacks.
