As Bright International School reaches the end of its first academic year under its new identity, Miguel Ladeira Santos, CEO of the Sharing Education Group, reflects on an exciting period of growth, investment and transformation.

“It has been an incredibly positive year for Bright,” he says. “We are extremely grateful to all the families who trusted us, supported our vision and fully embraced this new chapter for the school. Their commitment has been essential to what we’ve achieved so far.”

And what a year it has been, with physical upgrades and ambitious academic planning, Bright is fast becoming a beacon for international education in the Algarve.

“We began the year by completely transforming our Secondary School facilities in collaboration with the renowned Rosan Bosch Studio in Denmark,” Miguel explains. “Our aim was to create dynamic, engaging and flexible learning spaces that truly support the way students learn today. These inspiring environments will now serve as the foundation for our new IGCSE programme, which officially launches in September 2025.”

One of the standout projects completed recently is a brand-new, state-of-the-art science laboratory — purpose-built to support hands-on learning. But the upgrades don’t stop there.

“We’ve already started preparing the full refurbishment of our Primary School areas,” says Miguel. “This work will continue throughout the summer, alongside the development of our new outdoor sports facilities, a redesigned dining area and a new auditorium.”

The investment in sports infrastructure is especially timely. Bright is now the proud home of the Vilamoura Sports Academy, and is welcoming students from across the region.

“Outdoor activity is vital to children’s development — physically, socially and emotionally,” Miguel says. “Now that we’re hosting one of the Algarve’s leading sports academies, we’re committed to offering top-tier facilities not only to our own students, but to young sports enthusiasts from international schools across the region.”

The school has also seen steady and growing demand throughout the year. “We’ve welcomed a significant number of new students mid-year, which is a clear sign that families recognise the value of what we’re building,” says Miguel. “We’re proud to be making such a positive contribution to the education landscape in the Algarve.”

With so much already achieved — and more to come — the message is clear: if you’re raising kids in the Algarve, Bright should be on your radar. “We warmly invite families to book a tour and come see the transformation for themselves,” Miguel concludes. “We’re just getting started.”
