Film Industry

While Bollywood is perhaps India’s best-known Hindi-language movie producer, there are eight film-making industries in the country, also generating features in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi and Punjabi

As the Telugu-language industry’s ticket sales increased from 182 million in 2019 to 233 million in 2022, the Hindi-language industry saw a decline from 341 million to 189 million tickets.

India is the largest producer of feature-length movies in the world, making 1,500 to 2,000 films per year.
