A total of 128 commercial areas and two warehouses participated in the initiative which took place between 31 May and 1 June.

The food which has been collected will begin to be distributed to charities this week. Around 15 thousand people with proven food needs will receive food baskets or prepared meals.

Nationally, 1878 tons of food were collected, which represents an increase of 6.4% compared to the same harvest in 2024.

Nuno Cabrita Alves, president of the Algarve Food Bank, says in a statement that “this solidarity campaign managed to bring together hundreds of volunteers, who contributed to the success of the initiative”.
