Speaking at the launch of the “JUVENTUDE.AZORES - Get To Know Your DRJ!” tour in Lajes do Pico, Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, Maria João Carreiro, said the programme’s regulations are being finalised and will be published shortly in the Official Gazette. Applications are expected to open later this June.

According to a statement from the Azorean Government (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM), the programme is open to young people aged 15 to 28, regardless of education or employment status.

REDES offers two formats: short-term projects lasting one to five days, such as renovating homes or helping stray animals; and regular projects running three to nine months within institutions like care homes or disability support organisations.

Participants in short-term projects will receive grants between €21 and €75. For long-term engagements, monthly grants can reach €180 – up to a total of €1,620 for a full nine-month commitment.

“This programme highlights the role of volunteering in personal, social and community development,” said Maria João Carreiro. “It encourages knowledge-sharing and the growth of vital skills in young people.”

The “JUVENTUDE-AZORES” tour will feature interactive sessions involving both young participants and organisations, promoting over ten DRJ programmes focused on areas such as creativity, entrepreneurship, mobility, training, and civic engagement.
