It’s a physical and mental challenge I’ve been preparing for, but it’s also a walk with a purpose: to raise awareness for the often-forgotten dogs and cats of Canil de Portimão.

As part of the charity Friends of Canil de Portimão, I’ve seen firsthand the love and resilience these animals carry, even after tough beginnings. The charity is entirely volunteer-led. While our team is deeply committed, we rely on community support to keep going. The animals in our care don’t just need food and shelter – they need homes, patience, and compassion.

On my training walks, I’ve brought some of our dogs along, and it’s been a joy to see them thrive, one paw step at a time. These walks are a reminder: they’re not broken – they’re just waiting for someone to see their worth.

With this walk, I hope to start more conversations about adoption. Every animal adopted means one less life left behind. Let’s shift the focus from buying to rescuing, from shopping to giving a second chance.

I’ve set up a GoFundMe where 100% of donations go directly to the canil. Every euro helps with food, medical treatment, sterilisations, and rehoming efforts. It truly makes a difference.

Walking 160km may be a huge personal challenge, but it’s nothing compared to what many of these animals have endured. So I walk for them – and I invite you to join me in spirit, in conversation, and in support.
