In a statement, the ERS says that the issue at stake is the “practice of health care by an unqualified professional”, namely, dental medicine services and injections for facial fillers, representing an “imminent danger to the health and safety of users”.

“Through the observation carried out on site, as well as the evidence collected, it was possible to confirm that in one of the spaces in the municipality of Faro, medical and/or dental acts were being performed by a professional without the necessary qualifications and qualifications and in disregard of the most basic quality and safety standards”, it alleged.

During the inspection, the regulatory body confirmed that “procedures involving the application of botulinum toxin and biostimulants were being performed, in addition to facial and body fillers using injectable hyaluronic acid”.

These procedures require the use of medications or medical devices whose packaging “contains the indication for exclusive use by a physician”, since they are “invasive procedures involving the injection and insertion of products into the skin”, it argued.

The ERS stressed that the facts found and the danger to the health and safety of users led to the application of the “precautionary measure of immediate suspension of the activity” due to the “unqualified exercise of health care in the area of aesthetics”.

The establishment in question had its activity suspended as part of an action aimed at guaranteeing the right of users to access to the provision of “adequate and safe” health care and monitoring “compliance with current operational requirements”, the regulatory body stated.

The establishments inspected were located in the Faro district and the actions were triggered by a “set of complaints that aimed to provide health care in the area of aesthetics by unqualified professionals”, it indicated.

The precautionary measure may be “declared extinct” when it is proven that there is no longer any danger to the health and safety of users, also clarified by ANEEL, which communicated the facts to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
