During the 1st quarter of 2025, more than 7,000 buildings were licensed, an increase of 20.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, although below the variation of 24.1% recorded in the 4th quarter of 2024, according to INE figures.
Building licensing for new constructions increased by 21.3% (after +27.5% in the 4th quarter of 2024), while licensing for rehabilitation increased by 23.7%, accelerating in relation to the 15.7% observed in the previous quarter.
The number of completed buildings totalled 3.9 thousand, corresponding to an annual increase of 1.1% and a reversal of the 3.6% reduction seen in the previous quarter.
In the family housing segment, the number of licensed units in new constructions grew by 36.0%, reinforcing the 23.5% increase observed in the last quarter. The number of completed homes increased by 18.4%, after +11.8% in the 4th quarter of 2024.
Compared to the previous quarter, the number of licensed buildings increased by 3.8%, while completed buildings decreased by 3.9%.
