The "reduction of taxes on income from work is an act of justice for those who work", as well as an "act of retribution for the capacity and effort of the performance" of workers, highlighted the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, during the debate on the Government program, in the Assembly of the Republic, in response to a request for clarification from the CDS-PP.

Luís Montenegro also assured that in this legislature, the Government will continue its path of tax reduction, recalling that one of the government's objectives is to reduce the IRS up to the 8th bracket by two billion euros by 2029, with a reduction of 500 million euros in 2025.

This reduction "will have a special focus on the lowest incomes and the middle class", signalled the head of government, also indicating that the proposal will be presented "in the next two weeks" and sent to parliament.
