With its arrival in Lisbon scheduled for November, the company will open two new supermarkets, located in Alta de Lisboa and Quinta do Lambert. In addition to these stores, the retailer is also strengthening teams in other operational areas, according to a report by Postal.

One of the company's focuses is the recruitment of healthcare professionals. With the growth of its operations, Mercadona is recruiting doctors in various parts of the country, as part of a plan to strengthen the team dedicated to employee well-being.

The opening of the two new stores will generate 180 jobs, with vacancies for supermarket operators and maintenance assistants. The contracts are effective from day one, with a training period included. The company covers the expenses associated with the training, such as accommodation, food and travel.

These stores mark Mercadona's debut in the city of Lisbon, increasing the number of the company's commercial spaces in the district to ten by the end of the year.

The recruitment of doctors follows defined criteria. The company offers open-ended contracts, with a gross annual salary that starts at 45,637.13 euros and can reach 69,280.37 euros, including vacation and Christmas bonuses. In addition to this amount, there is a daily food allowance and an annual bonus indexed to objectives.

These amounts correspond to a monthly income of between €3,800 and €5,770, depending on the progression in the role. The professionals are part of a structure focused on providing services to the company's employees.

The functions associated with the position include providing consultations, issuing medical prescriptions, providing telephone support to the internal health line and providing paid travel between the company's units. Candidates must have an integrated master's degree in medicine, a driver's license and be available exclusively.

Knowledge of Spanish is valued, although it is not a mandatory requirement. The role requires availability for frequent travel within the country, which is paid for by the company.

For Mercadona, comfort in the workplace is a strategic factor. The company invests in an internal health structure that supports employees at various stages of their work activity. Doctors are part of teams that ensure physical presence and remote support, with triage carried out by nursing professionals.
