The two electric brands have different target audiences, with Nio focusing on a higher segment, while Firefly is “oriented towards the urban and digital public”.
The entry of the two brands, from the same group, comes after JAP Group was also chosen to enter the Portuguese market by Foton and GAC.

Nio's director for Europe, Thijs Meijling, highlighted that the European continent is “a fundamental pillar” of its strategy and has “strong potential for intelligent and user-centric mobility”.
“Nio represents the future of premium mobility and we are proud to lead its entry into Portugal,” said Jan Oehmicke, CEO of JAP Group, in a statement.
With an exclusively electric offering, Nio also has solutions such as battery swapping stations in about three minutes, a solution that JAP Group says is under analysis, “and could be introduced to Portuguese customers in the future.”
Take one look at the reviews for Carby Audi in Faro, see what the customers are saying about servicing well known brands and customer service, and now imagine buying a car with new technology like this and expecting things to go well. Linked to non-existent infrastructure. No thanks. I'd rather burn money to stay warm in winter than get involved.
