In the middle of the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve, on the coast of the Municipality of Vila do Bispo, lies a special beach that reveals itself between two imposing limestone cliffs; Praia das Furnas. The beach owes its name to the strong erosion of those limestone cliffs, which has created several cracks and caves. The caves are not only helpful in finding shade in hot summers, but also give the beach something unique. Once on the beach, there is nothing but nature; no beach bar, no water activities, no facilities, just beach, caves and sea. An absolute must-visit for nature lovers. Just be careful when you venture through the caves and near the cliffs because the erosion causes bits of rock to fall off every now and then.
