According to provisional data released by the Algarve Hotels and Tourist Resorts Association (AHETA), the occupancy rate of Algarve accommodation units in August was 0.9 percentage points (pp) higher than a year earlier, having risen from 88.4% in 2023 to 89.3% this year.
According to the monthly summary of hotel developments prepared by this association, the markets that recorded the highest year-on-year growth were Germany (+1.2pp), North America (+0.5pp), and The Netherlands (+0.4pp).
The biggest drops compared to August 2023 were recorded in the national market (-3.6pp) and in the French market (-0.5pp).
The average stay was 4.8 nights, a decrease of 0.2 compared to the same month of the previous year.
The longest average stays were in the Dutch market (7 nights) and the Irish market (6).
