In 2019, the Louvre was found to have been in possession of art from patron Adèle de Rothschild by a cross-inventory looking into its collections.

The museum has announced it will be returning the 258 objects which accidentally wound up in its collection, gradually accumulating during the renovations of the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild.
Following her passing in 1922, a large portion of her work was on loan at the Louvre, and those remained there until this latest investigation.
