According to the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, 1,194 firefighters are engaged in the three fires classified as significant incidents, supported by 396 ground resources and 21 air resources.

The fires in Tabuaço (Viseu), Trancoso (Guarda), and Sirarelhos (Vila Real) were ongoing, while two other significant fires—in Alvite, Moimenta da Beira (Viseu), and Covilhã—were being extinguished, with no risk of spreading.

The fire raging in the Alvão mountain range, in Vila Real, in a steeply sloping area, has been burning for 11 days. It started at 11:45 PM on August 2nd, has already been extinguished, and flared up twice on Saturday and Monday afternoon.

The fire, which started in Sirarelhos, was being fought by 368 firefighters, 124 ground resources, and seven air resources.

The fire, which broke out on Saturday afternoon in the Freches area, in the municipality of Trancoso, was divided into four fronts by early this morning, two of which were already under control and in the process of being extinguished, while two others were causing concern.

By 3:15 PM, it was being fought by 581 firefighters, 193 ground resources, and eight air resources.

The fire raging in the parish of Távora e Pinheiro, in the municipality of Tabuaço, which was alerted at 10:27 PM on Sunday, had mobilized 245 firefighters, supported by 79 vehicles and six aircraft by 3:15 PM.

In Alvite, Moimenta da Beira (Viseu), 61 firefighters are still mobilized, supported by 16 ground vehicles. The fire that broke out on Sunday in Sobral de São Miguel, in Covilhã, Castelo Branco district, and which entered the containment phase this morning, still has 472 firefighters, 149 ground vehicles, and three air vehicles.

Portugal is on high alert due to the risk of fires, and in recent weeks, several fires have broken out in the north and centre of the country, already consuming an area of nearly 60,000 hectares.
