Castelo Branco, Guarda, and Bragança will be under an orange weather warning due to the heat until the end of Friday, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The orange warning, the second most severe, is due to "persistent very high maximum temperatures" for these three districts and has been extended until Friday, according to the institute's statement.

The districts of Évora, Beja, and Portalegre will remain under an orange warning until 6pm on Thursday, then transition to a yellow warning until the end of Thursday.

Vila Real and Viseu are under a yellow warning until 6:00 a.m. Thursday, when they will be changed to orange until 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

In Porto, Faro, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro, Braga, and Lisbon, a yellow warning is in effect until the end of Thursday, while in Santarém, Leiria, and Coimbra, the IPMA's yellow warning is in effect until 6:00 p.m. Friday.
