We appreciate his work at our club to date and wish him success in his future career," the Turkish club said in a statement published on its website, two days after a 1-0 defeat at Benfica (0-0 in the first leg).

Mourinho's time in Turkey lasted only a year, after arriving last summer with the goal of leading Fenerbahce back to Europe's top competition, a feat he failed to achieve.
