As more and more people move to Portugal for a high quality of life, affordable cost of living, beautiful scenery, a welcoming, safe environment, the weather, and the excellent cuisine, one of the frequent questions asked of us at The Portugal News is "Where can we go to Worship in English?" Whilst there are vast numbers of places to worship in Portuguese, there are also a number of excellent places to Worship in English, and this page will only focus on English or dual English and Portuguese services throughout Portugal.
Worship, spiritual growth, connection
Most people go to church to worship God, to grow spiritually through teachings and prayer, and to connect with God that can lead to feelings of blissful peace and spiritual fulfilment. Giving thanks and praise to God is a nourishing process that can help deepen faith and gain spiritual wisdom. For many, church is the place to focus on such spiritual matters, to feel a stronger connection to God.
Community, meeting new friends, support, and combat loneliness
There are other benefits of visiting and joining a local church congregation, particularly for new arrivals in Portugal. There is the sense of joining a community leading to deeper ties within your locality and finding out information about your local environment. You can make new like-minded friends and develop new relationships. The fellowship can help you with any challenges, issues and provide you with guidance and support from others in the community that may have been in Portugal for some time. This support can be invaluable if you have recently moved here and feel perhaps a little lonely.

Since when has the Portugal news become a Christian newspaper? It is very important for newspapers to remain secular. There are other ways to meet people besides going to a church. There are hiking groups, cycling groups, hobby groups, book clubs, local meet ups, etc. I am very wary about these kinds of articles popping up in the Portugal News.

I fully agree with Ms. Jeannette Kortz.
