Luís Montenegro said that “this steady and coordinated answer reaffirms the capacity of our institutions and, on this occasion, the cooperation of various departments”, namely the diverse ministries involved in helping the rescue forces and healing the wounded, in the hospitals.

The Prime Minister reassured that the Institute of Forensic Medicine is working hard to identify the fatalities, so that the family members can be informed, as well as to promote the quick return of the corpses to the families.
The Government is already in contact with the families who the fatal victims who have already been identified, or have been treated at the hospitals. The Instituto dos Registos e do Notariado (IRN) now has a team working to hand over death certificates, to make the process quicker.
The air company TAP, according to Luís Montenegro, will help families to reunite in Portugal, transporting relatives to the country. The transportation of the corpses will also be assured by the Portuguese air company.
The Prime Minister also thanked the international leaders who sent condolences to the victims and the country.
Luís Montenegro finished his speech, highlighting that “Portugal is, and always has been, a brave country”, reassuring that the country is united.
