According to forecasts released by the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP), diesel prices are expected to rise by two cents, while petrol prices will rise by 1.5 cents.
It should be noted that the average price per litre of diesel in Portugal on September 5th was €1.697, while petrol was €1.547.
"If forecasts for next week are confirmed, the average price of regular diesel should rise to €1.717 per litre (€/l). The average price of regular 95-grade petrol will rise to €1.562/l," the same source writes.
According to the ACP, "these forecasts are based on the assumption that the extraordinary tax reduction measures implemented by the government to mitigate price increases will be maintained."
These measures include a reduction in the Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP) and the offsetting of additional VAT revenue.
