Their efforts didn’t just entertain—together they raised more than £4,500, which will be shared between Project COMEDY and its parent charity, Project RECCE, which helps veterans transition into civilian life.

The line-up—Jay Saunders, Nick Cheng, Jim Bob, Andy Sykes (travelling from his base in Portugal), Ben Wilson, Jamie Johnson, Michael “Irish” McMahon and Rae Lloyd—earned glowing praise from audiences and industry insiders alike. Many were astonished at the professional quality of their routines, leading to invitations to guest on established stand-up review shows across the Fringe.

Project COMEDY also succeeded in challenging stereotypes about veterans and serving personnel. Their shows highlighted not only their sharp comedic skills but also their ability to build lasting relationships within the comedy world. One standout moment came when comedy legend Bobby Davro joined them for a special performance—he has since become a proud member of the Project COMEDY family.

Lead Ambassador Jay Saunders reflected on the group’s achievements:
“To see the growth and development of every one of our members has been staggering. But my true joy comes from the fact that every one of our acts is now being compared to professional comedians.”

Looking ahead, Project COMEDY plans to take its hit shows—Gags Army and Veterans v Civilians—on the road, staging pop-up performances across the UK and beyond.
