In a statement, IP indicated that the intervention aims to improve "traffic conditions" and increase safety on the section "between kilometres 105.072 and 131.097," a distance of approximately 26 kilometres, located in the municipality of Mértola, in the district of Beja.

According to IP, this intervention is part of "the second phase of a broader project" that aims to "comprehensively improve the approximately 40 kilometres of the connection between the two municipalities."

"The first phase, already completed, was carried out on the approximately 13-kilometer stretch between Almodôvar, at the connection to National Highway 2, at kilometre 92.645, and the Almodôvar/Mértola municipal boundary at kilometre 105.07," IP added.

The company also assured that during the works, traffic on the ER267 "will remain open to traffic", with the possibility of "temporary and alternating restrictions", but "always limited to the time strictly necessary".
