The epicentre of the quake was located about 50 kilometres south-southwest of Olhão, according to the IPMA.
"No information has been received confirming that this earthquake was felt," the institute added.
Algarve earthquake
An earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale was recorded at 1:12 a.m. today south-southwest of Olhão (Faro), according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
