A recent trial in Germany found that an experimental medication made from cannabis successfully reduced back pain, adding to evidence of marijuana’s potential in treating chronic pain.

Conducted by German drugmaker Vertinical and involving 800 patients, the results are fostering support for medical cannabis, even as U.S federal law continues to classify it as illegal.
The new formula includes THC, though only in microdose levels, and the company reported no signs of abuse, dependency or withdrawal among participants.
