The regulations prohibit the advertisement of junk food on television and digital platforms before 9pm, with an estimated 7.2 billion calories per year expected to be removed from children’s diets as a result.

Ashley Dalton, Minister for Health, stated that reducing the amounts of foods high in fat, sugar and salt that children consume will help lower the risk of contracting obesity-related illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease.















Unfortunately, nothing was said about highly inflammatory seed oils, which, along with sugar, high fructose corn syrup, fructose itself, and processed foods in general, contribute more to heart disease than saturated fats and salt.
