Diesel, the most widely used fuel in Portugal, is expected to drop 1.5 cents, while petrol is expected to remain unchanged, according to data from the ACP (Portuguese Automobile Association). However, a market source told ECO that the drop in diesel prices could potentially reach two cents.

When you fill up, you should now pay €1.528 per litre for regular diesel and €1.698 per litre for regular 95-grade petrol, taking into account the average prices charged at the pumps on Monday, as released by the Directorate-General of Energy and Geology (DGEG).

Prices may still change due to the closing of Brent crude oil prices and the behaviour of the foreign exchange market. This is also because final prices are the average of prices charged by all gas stations. Furthermore, prices charged to end consumers may vary by station.

This week, diesel fell one cent and gasoline fell 0.3 cents. The market was predicting a one-cent drop in diesel but a stabilisation in gasoline prices.
