Cabral already shared the previous record with João Sousa, after both reached 26th in doubles, although the Guimarães native, who reached that position in May 2019, maintains his best singles ranking, having reached 28th in May 2016.

The 28-year-old Porto Alegre native, who was ranked 26th at the end of August, is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, with two titles already, in Hangzhou and Gstaad, as well as two finals, each time alongside Austrian Lucas Miedler, who dropped to 35th.

The Portuguese-Austrian duo is also 11th in the race for the ATP Finals, which is for the top eight pairs, led by British players Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, who defeated Cabral and Miedler in the Vienna final.

In singles, Nuno Borges moved up one spot to 46th, with Jaime Faria (151st) and Henrique Rocha (162nd) dropping, in a ranking still led by Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, followed by Italian Jannik Sinner and German Alexander Zverev.

In the women's section, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka maintains the lead, ahead of Polish Iga Swiatek and American Coco Gauff. Francisca Jorge is closing in on the top 200, rising to 206th, with her sister Matilde Jorge at 253rd.
