The work started last week in the city of Lagoa, including Rua Francisco L. M. Veloso, Rua do Centro de Saúde, Rua Dr João António Silva Vieira, Rua do Viveiro, Rua do Infantário, and Rua dos Amigos de Lagoa – where the main water supply pipeline linking to the Lagoa Reservoir will also be replaced – as well as Largo do Município, Rua Jacinto Correira, Rua Afonso Costa, Rua Joaquim Eugénio Júdice, Rua Hintze Riveiro and Travessa Hintze Ribeiro.

This contract also covers the resurfacing of the Lagoa-Salicos road, Rua 25 de Abril and Estrada das Hortas in Estômbar, and Rua S. Gonçalo de Lagos, Rua Vale da Azenhaga and Travessa da Hortinha in Ferragudo.

In addition to this project, the Municipality of Lagoa has signed another agreement for the resurfacing of further streets and municipal roads. These works form Lot 2 of the public tender launched in December 2024 and encompass resurfacing two roads in Sobral – where new water supply pipes will also be installed – resurfacing a section of the municipal road M530-1, Rua Dr Francisco Sá Carneiro, Rua 25 de Abril, Quinta das Areias, Rua do Levante, Aldeamento do Levante, Aldeamento Zulmar, Vila Mourisca and Rua de Vilamar, all located in the Parish of Porches, as well as resurfacing a road in Sesmarias.

It is worth noting that this public tender also included an additional lot for resurfacing works in the Carvoeiro Beach area. However, no companies submitted proposals for that lot, leaving it vacant. The Municipality of Lagoa now intends to relaunch the tender, with an increased budget allocated to those works.

As the Municipality has previously stated, and in contrast to recent years, the resurfacing projects will mainly focus on urban areas, as many of these road surfaces are now several years old, in poor condition, and in need of renewal.

Furthermore, with the resurfacing works that are already underway, the Municipality of Lagoa currently has several other projects in progress, which also comprise the complete resurfacing of the affected road.
