More than just recognition, the award distinguishes a vision of regenerative investment that has given life back to a dilapidated building, created jobs, boosted local commerce, and introduced new sustainability practices in the Portuguese hotel industry.

With the completion of the works approaching, the hotel is the first IHG brand hotel in Portugal to join the Low Carbon Pioneers program, operating with zero emissions and 100% renewable energy, a milestone that places it at the forefront of the green transition in the sector.
Thanks to the national victory, the project was also nominated for the Regional Awards (Europe), and is now competing internationally among the best developments on the continent.
Andreia Leite, the Business Development Director for the Harland & Poston group said: “This award is a source of great pride for our entire team. The Portimão project proves that strategic investment can go beyond financial return. What we did here was to restore trust, create jobs and generate lasting value for the community, which is why this project is very special.
“Not only is its impact reflected in the building itself, but also in the overall improvement of its entire urban surroundings. For us, this is the true meaning of development.”
