In a written response sent to Lusa, the PSP says that “all necessary steps have been exhausted on existing pedestrian routes in the cellular triangulation area,” thus justifying the decision to interrupt the search.
The police add that at this moment “an assessment is being made of the existing cliffs in areas where pedestrian access is possible, even if outside the recommended trails, for the purpose of descent and/or use of drones by the PSP search and rescue brigade.”
“In these terms, the search will resume tomorrow [Thursday]”.
On Tuesday, the PSP (Portuguese Public Security Police) indicated that it was conducting searches in an area of the Levada dos Tornos, "in the last cell phone triangulation area of the missing person's cell phone."
The Levada dos Tornos is the longest in the autonomous region, stretching over 100 kilometers and crossing several municipalities.
