Every year, the Christmas Fair is a highlight for animal lovers across the Algarve. It offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the year while raising much-needed funds for the dogs and cats who rely on the canil’s care. Visitors can look forward to delicious homemade cakes, creative Christmas gifts, treats and games for all ages. There will also be a chance to meet some of the canil’s adorable residents who are waiting for their forever homes.

The funds raised from the fair go directly to residents, ensuring every animal receives the love and attention they deserve. The Friends of Canil de Portimão work tirelessly throughout the year to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned and neglected animals, and the Christmas Fair is a joyful way to support this important mission.

Beyond fundraising, the event also serves as a celebration of the canil’s community spirit and compassion. It is a time to thank the dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and kind-hearted adopters who make the canil’s work possible.
