According to Jornal de Negócios, the objective is for Enatur to once again be 100% state-owned by the end of next year, taking advantage of the end, on December 31, 2026, of the concession for the Pousadas de Portugal network, which should be put out to public tender.
Government plans to buy Pestana's Pousadas
The Government wants to buy, through Turismo de Portugal, the 49% stake held by the Pestana Group in the capital of the National Tourism Company (Enatur), which was sold in 2003 for approximately €28 million due to accumulated losses over more than a decade.

Interesting to see how the Portuguese do not react negatively to this sort of news. It is their money rescuing a private business. This business, given the excellent tourism market in Portugal, has to be so poorly managed to fail...
The management gets the backing of the taxpayer's money, and will eventually get his problem sorted with taxpayer funds, then will buy back the share to the state for peanuts, prolonging incompetence and misuse of public money to save our long-term buddies and family.
Unbelievable how this country is still standing. None of the rich families ever have to hold any responsibility.
