Spain’s most valuable historic coin, the Centén Segoviano, minted in Segovia in 1609 during the reign of Philip III of Spain, returns to auction in Geneva.

It was previously sold for €2.3 million, being a European record for a 17th-century Spanish coin. The auction’s starting price is estimated at around two million Swiss francs, with potential for bidding to exceed the prior record.
The rarity, exceptional preservation and full provenance documentation of the coin have sparked a strong interest among international collectors and investors.
