The mission is part of the visit of the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion.
The Saudi Arabia-Portugal Economic Forum, promoted within the framework of the 7th Portugal-Saudi Arabia Joint Commission, will be held in Riyadh on November 23rd and 24th, with the objective of strengthening bilateral economic relations.
Of the more than 50 Portuguese companies participating in the Forum, especially from the Engineering and Construction sector, more than 50% do not have an effective presence in this market, which has the potential to diversify the Portuguese economy. On the Saudi side, there will be around 120 companies present, and Saudi investment in Portugal has high potential, both in mergers and acquisitions and in structuring projects.
The Economic Forum will serve to present opportunities in large Saudi public projects. The business mission, which also includes meetings between Portuguese and Saudi companies, takes place within the framework of the visit of the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Castro Almeida, and the Secretary of State for the Economy, João Rui Ferreira, to Saudi Arabia, accompanied by the Director of AICEP, Francisco Catalão.
“Portugal is ready to deepen its presence in Saudi Arabia, with competitive companies and high-value solutions. This mission reinforces mutual trust and opens new opportunities for investment and growth for our companies,” highlights the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion.
“The high number of participants confirms the interest in economic relations between Portugal and Saudi Arabia. These events, organized by AICEP, show Portugal's ambition to bring the best of its talent and industry to rapidly growing markets,” says the Director of AICEP.
AICEP promotes Portuguese Design and Lifestyle in Riyadh
The event “MADE IN PORTUGAL naturally MEETS LAZADO”, taking place from November 24th to 26th, is the result of a partnership between AICEP and Lazado, one of the leading importers and distributors in the Home and Fashion sectors in Saudi Arabia.
Lazado, which operates a showroom on one of Riyadh's most emblematic streets, currently sells a variety of Portuguese products. For this event, Lazado selected the participating companies based on market knowledge and the preferences of Saudi consumers.
The selection includes 18 leading brands from the Portuguese Home and Fashion sectors:
• Tiles: Viúva Lamego, Barro.
• Furniture: AROUNDtheTREE, TemaHome, X8 Solutions Group, Ziya Concept, Alma de Luce, Marques & Silva, MainGuilty, Rondinart.
• Decorative tableware and porcelain: Vista Alegre.
• Cutlery: Cutipol, Belo Inox.
• Rugs: Ferreira de Sá.
• Jewelry: Tavares 1922, Maria João Bahia.
• Fragrances: Essências de Portugal.
• Table textiles: Mariaida Home.
This initiative aims to reinforce Portugal's reputation as a supplier of excellence in the Home and Fashion clusters, increase the visibility of Portuguese products among Saudi decision-makers and buyers, and support the consolidation of commercial relations between Portuguese companies and local partners.
Saudi Arabia is currently the main market in the Gulf and the second largest destination for Portuguese exports in the region, behind only the United Arab Emirates.
The Home and Fashion clusters play a central role in this dynamic, reflecting the growing interest of Saudi consumers in high-quality design and lifestyle products. Portugal has gained international recognition in these areas, particularly in furniture, home textiles, decorative items, and sustainable fashion.
