"The Tax and Customs Authority is aware that some taxpayers are receiving emails supposedly from the Tax Authority asking them to click on a link provided to validate an alleged bank transfer," reads a statement published on the Finance Portal.
Furthermore, the Tax Authority explains, "phishing campaigns using fraudulent text messages (SMS) are also underway."
In practice, says the Tax Authority, "recipients of these SMS messages are maliciously induced to make a payment to supposedly regularize their tax situation."
The Tax Authority's advice is clear: "These messages are false and should be ignored. Their objective is to convince the recipient to access malicious pages by clicking on the suggested links or to make undue payments."
"Under no circumstances should you carry out these operations," concludes the Tax Authority.
According to the Tax Authority, "communications sent centrally by the Tax Authority are available on the Tax Portal, where taxpayers can securely access all messages."
"To consult them, simply log in, authenticate, and in the side menu, select the 'Communications' option," reads the note published on the Tax Portal.
"The Tax Authority only sends informational communications to taxpayers who have activated the sending of emails and SMS and who have their contacts (email and mobile phone) confirmed on the Tax Portal," it also reads.
