According to the statistical service of the European Union (EU), the wages and remuneration component rose between July and September by 3.0% in the eurozone and 3.5% in the 27 Member States as a whole.

In the non-wage cost component, the annual increase was 4.0% in the eurozone and 4.2% in the EU. In the Member States, hourly labour costs varied in the third quarter, ranging from a 12.4% increase in Bulgaria to a 1.4% decrease in Malta, the only country where the indicator contracted.

In Portugal, the indicator rose 4.7%, a decrease compared to 8.7% in the same quarter of 2024 and 5.5% in the period between April and June of this year.
