The GNR (National Republican Guard) has received the green light to invest up to €2.6 million in maintenance services for the Integrated Police Operational Information System (SIIOP) between 2026 and 2029.
The Integrated Police Operational Information System (SIIOP) “aggregates operational activity data, internal management data, and data from external systems” and “constitutes an essential tool for crime prevention and investigation, along with other areas of activity in the administrative and protection and rescue domains, with a view to providing a better service to society in general,” according to the joint decree from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Internal Administration published in the Official Gazette.
"The GNR (National Republican Guard) currently lacks the human resources with the necessary qualifications and technical knowledge to ensure the maintenance of the system, the absence of which could result in long periods of software unavailability," and there is a need to acquire SIIOP maintenance services for the period between 2026 and 2029, guaranteeing "the capacity to support operational activity and interoperability with other internal and external systems of the institution."
Because of this, the GNR has been authorised to acquire maintenance services between 2026 and 2029, "up to a maximum amount of €2.64 million, plus value-added tax (VAT) at the legal rate in force." Each year, the expenses cannot exceed €661,720, plus the applicable VAT rate.
"The amounts set for each fiscal year may be increased by the balances determined in the budget execution of previous fiscal years," the decree states. The expenses will be "covered by adequate funds from national own-source revenue to be included in the GNR's budgets for the years indicated above."
