The districts of Viana do Castelo and Braga will already be under a yellow warning from 9 pm on 12 January until 9 am on Tuesday due to the risk of heavy rain. The IPMA also issued a yellow warning for these two districts because of the wind, with gusts of up to 75 kilometres per hour (km/h) expected on the coast and up to 90 km/h in the mountains.

On Tuesday, between midnight and 9 am, also due to rain, the districts of Faro, Porto, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro and Coimbra will be under a yellow warning.

The Institute also issued a yellow warning for the south coast and mountainous regions of Madeira Island, in effect from 6 pm today to midnight on Tuesday, due to the possibility of heavy rain.

The north and south coasts of Madeira Island and Porto Santo will also be under a yellow warning between 9 am and 9 pm on Tuesday due to rough seas, with northwest waves expected to reach 4 to 5 metres.

The IPMA issued orange warnings for the western Azores (Flores and Corvo) due to strong sea conditions until noon today, then changed to yellow until 3 pm today.

The western group is also under a yellow warning until noon today due to the forecast of strong winds.

The eastern (Santa Maria and São Miguel) and central (Terceira, Graciosa, Faial, Pico, and São Jorge) groups are also under a yellow warning for rough seas (until 6 pm today) and strong winds (until 9 pm on 12 January).
