The monthly support, of around €130, is intended for families who have been living in rented accommodation in the municipality for more than three years, which is not owned by family members and has a valid contract, the council said in a statement.

The initiative is part of ‘a broader municipal strategy in the area of housing,’ which includes specific support for young people, the renovation and construction of housing in the historic centre and villages, and the ‘Mão Amiga’ social programme, which has already benefited 54 families.
