Obviously, Portugal could not fail to “jump on the bandwagon”, even though it is a country where family time around the television is central to its culture, especially for watching the news.
According to a study conducted by Marktest's Barometer, more than half of the population, i.e. 53.3% or 4.6 million citizens over the age of 15, used streaming platforms to watch their favourite content between September and December last year.
The study also indicates that 41.7% of streaming platform users use the services every day, and that the number of subscriptions has risen by around 43%.
However, Portugal is still far from being the European country with the most streaming subscriptions, ranking nineteenth on Anacom’s list.
