The seizure resulted from the non-payment of €890 in compensation to a Ryanair passenger due to a 13-hour flight delay. The measure was applied at Linz Airport in Austria.

According to the ORF, the court ordered the measure, and a sticker was placed on the plane declaring it "officially seized."

The passenger who was to receive compensation was travelling to Palma de Mallorca and had to request an alternative flight for herself and two companions due to a 13-hour delay on the Ryanair flight.

For the passenger, the flight resulted in additional costs of €890, and the case went to court after Ryanair refused to pay the compensation.

In Austria, a justice officer tried to collect payment directly from the pilot, without success, by affixing a seizure sticker to the aircraft.

According to the ORF, the Irish airline reveals that no aircraft had been seized.
