"It is something that constantly concerns us in the assessment of people who come to the Judiciary Police and complain about the usurpation of their Facebook account, the usurpation of their LinkedIn account," justified Carlos Cabreiro.
The national director, until about a month ago, the director of the National Cybercrime Unit of the PJ, was heard this morning by deputies as part of the specialised review of the PSD's bill that limits children's and young people's access to online platforms and social networks.
The bill, approved by a majority vote on 12 February 2026, establishes that one must be at least 16 years old to access social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook, and that access between the ages of 13 and 16 is only permitted after "express and verified parental consent."
The specialised debate aims to refine the initial bill before final approval and is taking place in parliamentary committees.
