Multiple areas across the country are expected to face temporary water outages or supply disruptions between 11 and 17 May 2026. The notices have been published by local councils, municipal services and water management companies. Residents are advised to check updates directly with their local authority on the day.

Most planned interruptions are linked to maintenance work on the public water network, including repairs, upgrades, and the installation of new connections.

While some cuts already have confirmed schedules, authorities warn that timings may still change depending on how the works progress.

Lagoa will see several days of disruptions

In the Algarve, the municipality of Lagoa will face temporary water cuts between 11 and 15 May.

The interruption is scheduled between 7 am and 12 pm and will affect the Algarve Clube Atlântico area in Carvoeiro.

According to the municipality, the works are connected to new pipeline connections as part of a wider renovation of the water supply network.

Vale do Lobo also affected

In Vale do Lobo, in the municipality of Loulé, a temporary water cut is also planned for 12 May.

The affected area includes Travessa dos Flamingos, specifically villas 891A to 891C.

The public notice confirms the date and addresses involved, although no exact timetable for the interruption has been provided.

Almada also affected

In Almada, water cuts are planned on different days across several streets.

On 11 May, between 9 am and 12 pm, interruptions are expected in Rua D. Filipa de Lencastre, Travessa D. Filipa de Lencastre, Rua Francisco Valença, Rua Infante D. Pedro and Rua Infante D. João, in Charneca de Caparica.

The following day, 12 May, between 9 am and 1 pm, the cut is expected to affect the even-numbered properties on Rua Fernão Lourenço, from 84 to 96.

Sesimbra to carry out network repairs

Sesimbra is also expected to face temporary interruptions due to repairs on the public water network.

On 11 May, the outage is expected to affect Rua D. Carlos I, in Conde, between 8.30am and 12.30 pm.

On 12 May, during roughly the same hours, the interruption is planned for Avenida Cova dos Vidros, in Conde 2.

Torres Vedras and Alcobaça are included

In Torres Vedras, possible interruptions or supply constraints are expected on 11 May.

The notice covers Rua Álvaro Galrão, numbers 7 to 11, and Rua Carlos França, number 18, between 9am and 6pm.

Meanwhile, in Alcobaça, municipal services warned of possible disruptions on 12 May between 2pm and 3pm in the areas of Martingança and Martingança-Gare.

Aveiro is facing a two-day suspension

In Aveiro, AdRA has scheduled water supply suspensions across two consecutive days.

The cuts are expected on 13 and 14 May, between 9 am and 5 pm, on Rua do Carmo, between Rua Eng.º Von Haff and Rua Eng.º Oudinot.

The affected area is part of the União das Freguesias da Glória e Vera Cruz, with the interruption linked to ongoing network renewal works.

What residents should do before the cuts?

People living or working in the affected areas should store some water in advance, especially for cooking, hygiene, and other basic daily needs.

It’s also recommended to avoid running washing machines near scheduled cut times, as interruptions could stop cycles midway.

Once the water supply returns, residents may notice cloudy or discoloured water for a short period. In most cases, authorities say simply letting the tap run for a few minutes should clear it.

Municipalities are also warning that planned cuts may still change at short notice due to technical issues or the progress of the works, meaning some interruptions could be delayed, extended, or even cancelled altogether. Residents are therefore encouraged to continue checking updates from their local council or water supplier.
