According to the rapid air transport statistics published by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the United Kingdom saw growth in the number of disembarked passengers (+2.9%) and embarked passengers (+2.5%) compared to the same period in 2024.
France and Spain ranked second and third as the main countries of origin and destination.
In the first half of the year, Lisbon Airport handled 50% of all passengers (17.2 million), a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Faro Airport saw 7% growth in passenger traffic (4.6 million, 13.4% of the total), and Porto Airport handled 22.9% of all passengers (7.9 million), a 5.5% increase.
Between January and June, air cargo and mail movement grew 2.6%.
Analysing the month of June alone, 7.1 million passengers and 21.1 thousand tons of cargo and mail moved through national airports, corresponding to increases of 5.9% and 4%, respectively, compared to June 2024, after increases of 5.7% and 8.1% in the previous month.
That month, an average daily disembarkation of 118.8 thousand passengers was recorded, more than the approximately 113 thousand recorded in June of last year, representing an increase of 5.2%.
In June, 82% of passengers disembarking at national airports were international, reaching 2.9 million passengers (+5.3%), the majority from Europe (68.1% of the total), representing a 4.6% increase compared to June 2024.
The Americas were the second main origin, accounting for 9.7% of all disembarking passengers (+8.6%).
Of the embarked passengers, 81.9% were international, corresponding to 2.9 million passengers (+7.2%), of which 68.2% had airports in Europe as their main destination (+6.3% compared to June 2024).
Airports in the Americas were the second main destination for embarked passengers (9.4% of the total, +12.3%).
Portugal needs more of the drunken behavior these tourists bring.
Who doesn't want to be awoken at 3 am from a group chanting for their favorite soccer team?
Who can't get enough of men wearing women's bikini's parading through the streets?
Public urination, hey if you have to go....toilets optional.

Yet they treat UK passport holders like cattle. The Portuguese government cannot blame this on the EU, it is down to them.
