The group appears in 96th place, making it the only Portuguese player among the 100 largest in the world," according to a report by Notícias ao Minuto.
Quoted in the same statement, José Theotónio, CEO of the Pestana Hotel Group, reveals that being "recognized among the 100 largest hotel groups in the world reflects decades of consistent work, a sustained international expansion strategy, and the ability of our teams to transform each hotel into a benchmark for quality and experience."
"This milestone reinforces our ambition to make the Pestana Hotel Group increasingly relevant on the international stage," he adds.
It is also noted that the Portuguese group occupies "4th place in the Iberian Peninsula and 13th in Europe, reinforcing the relevance of the Pestana brand in the international hotel sector," the statement reads.
"This achievement reinforces the Pestana Hotel Group's position as an internationally renowned hotel group, with a presence in 16 countries and three continents, offering differentiated guest experiences in all markets where it operates, maintaining high standards of quality and innovation in each property," the group notes in the same statement.
This ranking, explains the Portuguese brand, "annually ranks the world's largest hotel groups based on the number of rooms and properties in operation."
"In 2024, the Pestana Hotel Group had a total of 12,041 rooms and 109 hotels—one hotel and 35 rooms more than in 2023. This performance allowed it to climb nine positions compared to the previous year, when it ranked 105th," the company explains in the same statement.
