The 26-year-old Portuguese middle-distance runner won the medal by completing three and a half laps of the Japan National Stadium track in 3:34.10 minutes, beating Britain's Jake Wightman, who finished second in 3:34.12, and Kenya's Reynold Cheruiyot, who finished third in 3:34.25.
Nader, the eighth Portuguese world champion, won his fourth medal in the 1,500 metres, following Carla Sacramento's two: gold in Athens 1997 and bronze in Gothenburg 1995, and Rui Silva's bronze in Helsinki 2005. He also earned his 24th medal overall in the outdoor World Championships.

The 26-year-old Benfica athlete, who holds the national record for the three and a half laps of the track with a time of 3:29.37 minutes, will be on an international podium for the second time in 2025, after winning bronze in the same distance at the European Short Track Championships in Apeldoorn 2025, this time taking the top spot.
The Algarve native, who finished 12th in Budapest 2023 and 40th in Oregon 2022, achieved the best result ever in the distance among the men, only equalled by Carla Sacramento's gold in Athens 1997.
