The minister said that the pendency will be resolved in 2026, during the specialised debate on the 2026 State Budget. The resolution of these backlogs will result in a total of 85 million euros in revenue for AIMA in 2026.
For moral reasons, the Government opted to prioritise immigrants with greater financial difficulties and, consequently, more vulnerable individuals, in the case of immigrants who expressed interest. Following this, the minister revealed, cases of citizens from countries of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) were addressed. Also on the priority list are citizens who cannot visit their families because their cases are pending due to expired visa cards.
"Only after we deal with all of these will we leave the wealthiest for the end of the line," he stressed, underlining that "next year a large part of the residence permits for investment activity (golden visas) will be resolved and will pay that amount in fees," as quoted by 24 Notícias.
The minister said that 93% of the pending issues related to the regularisation of immigrants in the country have been resolved, arguing that "never has Portugal seen the state, in such a short period, resolve a burden of dependencies of this size and with this speed."
The minister also stressed that 93% of the pending issues related to the regularisation of immigrants in Portugal have been resolved, which he considers "a major regularisation operation, which also means security because we control 500,000 criminal records, people from whom biometric data has been collected, whom we know who they are, where they are and what they do."

Invest half a million euros in Portugal, help boost confidence in the economy, jobs (especially lawyers, banks and property companies) and international attention, and then wait 3+ years for resolution behind the flood of immigrants who haven't contributed thanks to Mr Costa and friends. Easy to feel scammed and very stupid. Feel free to read the forums - people who were willing to invest and move to Portugal in future but wanted flexibility (due to children at school, elderly parents etc). It's not only super rich who joined this scheme/scam. I know a few...

Imagine moving half a million euros to Portugal, formally opening a business, formally hiring 10 people, paying about € 5800 to AIMA, having to wait in the exact same line as someone who came as a tourist and "manifested interest" of staying, and then receiving the news, that your application was rolled to the end of the line, after a couple *years*.
