With a monthly cost of €7.99, this subscription provides several of the main paid features of this generative artificial intelligence (AI) service, but for less than half the price of ChatGPT Plus, which continues to cost around €23 per month.

But what exactly are the differences between ChatGPT Go and ChatGPT Plus? According to a report by ECO, the significantly lower price of the new plan available on the Portuguese market will lead many OpenAI customers to consider switching to a more affordable subscription. Even more so because some Plus features are still available in the less robust version of the subscription.

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Go provides users with expanded access to GPT-5, OpenAI's most advanced AI model, allowing for broader messaging and file uploads, as well as faster and more efficient image creation than the free version of ChatGPT.

However, this plan does not include GPT-5 with advanced reasoning, unlike the Plus version. ChatGPT Go also offers extended memory and context, facilitating longer and more continuous interactions, and allows for project management, task management, and the use of various custom "GPTs" (which are like programs integrated into ChatGPT with specific applications).

The main difference between the two plans lies in the more advanced features, which are not available in this low-cost version. With ChatGPT Go, it is not possible to create videos with the Sora AI model, which has the ability to generate realistic or imaginative videos from text instructions (so-called prompts) or images.

Another important difference is related to Agent mode. ChatGPT Go does not include any functionality in this scope, while ChatGPT Plus allows you to invoke an “agent” capable of autonomously performing tasks, instead of just answering questions. This includes developing programming code.

With this feature provided by ChatGPT Plus, the generative AI program can autonomously navigate websites, collect information, compile reports, create presentations, or automate complex workflows such as analyzing data and generating ready-to-use documents.

Despite the launch of ChatGPT Go, OpenAI continues to offer the free version of ChatGPT, which allows access to the GPT-5 model, but with significant limitations: file uploads are restricted, image creation is slower and more limited, memory and context are reduced, it is not possible to access agents or create videos, and in-depth searches are not available.

ChatGPT Go was initially launched in India in August of this year, where it costs the equivalent of four euros per month.
