The City Council has outlined structural measures to streamline traffic and improve beach access, unveiling a model that favours public transport and environmental sustainability. This approach establishes a shuttle service and strict regulation of road access to the beach.

The plan introduces two large peripheral parking areas to support the new public transport network, which will shuttle holidaymakers to the beach.

Traffic management includes constructing a new roundabout and installing an access control system on the cliff. Additionally, a "vaivém"—a dedicated shuttle service—will transport visitors to the beach, reducing reliance on private vehicles.

This system will be enhanced by digital information panels that provide real-time updates on parking lot occupancy and block further entry once the area's maximum capacity is reached.

Almada City Council states that public safety and ecosystem preservation are the foundation of this initiative.

The municipality stresses the need to harmonise public space, ensuring the new structure serves everyone, from residents and vacationers to fishermen and local business owners reliant on beach activities.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming months. The municipality notes the plan's flexibility, allowing real-time modifications based on emerging needs during the bathing season.

While initial changes will be implemented immediately, the municipality aims to have the mobility model fully developed and consolidated by summer 2027, making Fonte da Telha a safer, more accessible destination.
